The New South Wales Labor Party was targeted by a 'cybersquatter' who was also suspected of trying to cash-in on the Beaconsfield mine tragedy.
State party boss Matt Thistlethwaite says the offer was declined.
The ABC has obtained an internet registration form which shows the name, ISP address and ABN of the person who owned the domain name.
It has emerged that the man who made the approach to the ALP had already come to the notice of the domain name regulator auDA.
