Concerns over slow implementation of DNSSEC in Africa

Even though Africa was expected to implement DNSSEC as soon as possible, the implementation process turned out to be very slow.Because Africa has no legacy registry systems, and the operational registries are manual, the implementation process should have happened after the automation process . However,of the 67 TLD zones signed, only two African countries are listed ,says Adiel Akplogan,CEO of AfriNIC,according to ComputerWorld.co.ke .The two African countries listed are .NA and .SC .
"Of the 67 TLD zones that are signed today, only two African countries are listed (.NA and .SC); this is bad, but if we look at the state of our DNS (ccTLD) landscape in the region the situation is not that surprising -- there is still a lot to do to reinforce our ccTLD infrastructure with a proper management."
Even though everyone knows that DNSEC adds security to the Domain Name System, many countries still argue that in order to implement DNSSEC,there must be demand .Joe Kiragu, administrative manager for the .KE registry has the same opinion :
"For DNSSEC deployment to be successful, demand must be created. The push for its implementation by end-users can only come if users are aware of what DNSSEC has to offer as far as security and resilience of internet is concerned."
