WATERTOWN, Mass. - Cold.com will be auctioned in late November with a minimum acceptable bid of US$1 million, announced Patent Kinetics, LLC, an intellectual property strategy, evaluation, and brokerage company. Sealed bids are being accepted until November 14.

"We anticipate exceptionally strong interest in Cold.com," said Bob Weber, Managing Director, Patent Kinetics, LLC. "Marketing, advertising, brand management, public relations professionals, and other executives should carefully evaluate how the unique Cold.com domain name and web presence could figure prominently in their efforts to extend brand equity by leveraging consumers' brand and product associations with the word 'cold'."

Weber noted that the list of product categories and vertical markets that could make excellent use of the Cold.com domain name by utilizing the consumer's brand and product associations is surprisingly long, and includes (and is by no means limited to):

Cold.com is one of the few high value, 4-letter .com domain names to be put up for auction recently. High value domain names that have sold for at least US$1 million include: Fund.com at just under US$10 million (topping the list so far for 2008); Diamond.com and Business.com, both US$7.5 million; AsSeenOnTV.com, US$5.1 million; Vodka.com and CreditCheck.com, both US$3 million; and Rebate.com, US$1 million. Sealed bids must be received no later than 5 p.m., Eastern Standard Time, Friday, November 14, 2008. The minimum acceptable bid is US$1 million. The sale to the highest bidder is expected to close in early December.
