The city of Saskatoon has recently registered .XXX domain name,in order to prevent pornographers from using it .Saskatoon registered six .XXX domain names,including Saskatoon.xxx ,at a cost of about $1,000 .
"We were concerned about our public image, about the profile we have, and also for the citizens of Saskatoon.Really quite unhappy about the fact that somebody could actually have a porn site when people think they are coming to the city to do business," said Kevin Peacock with the City of Saskatoon. “Everybody wants to protect their corporate image.If somebody goes to Saskatoon.xxx and there is pornography, I think that’s really bad for our image as a municipal government. We felt it was a decent investment to protect our image,added Peacock .
.XXX domain names are only for adult entertainment websites.The domain name became available for public sale on December 6,2011 .
Other two .XXX domain name acquired by Saskatoon include Riverlanding.xxx and Saskatoonshines.xxx .
