The WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center announced that a ruling has been issued in favor of Beyonce Knowles,regarding rights to the Internet domain name BeyonceFragrance.com .
Beyonce filed a complaint with the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center a while ago,asserting legal rights to the disputed domain name.
The famous singer owns at least two United States registrations for the "Beyonce" mark.Therefore,Beyonce contended that the disputed domain name is confusingly similar to its trademark.
Moreover,she contended that the respondent registered and used the domain name in bad faith .
"Complainant suggests that there is evidence of bad faith because Respondent attempted to sell the Domain Name."
"The website to which the Domain Name currently resolves contains sponsored ads to various websites that sell third-party fragrance. As such, Respondent is trading on consumer interest in Complainant and her fragrance in order to generate Internet traffic and to commercially benefit from the sponsored links that appear on the website."
The Panel ordered the disputed domain name be transferred from the respondent to the complainant.
