Apple wins 16 web domains via ICANN complaint

Apple has won the rights to 16 domain names through a complaint to ICANN, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, reports say. Apple first submitted its complaint to ICANN in November, pursuing action through the organization's Uniform Domain-Name Dispute-Resolution Policy. The domains were all owned by Daniel Bijan, a Los Angeles man and self-described "mega producer, singer, [and] entrepreneur."
Apple suggests that some of the domains owned by Bijan were "confusingly similar" to its trademarks, like the iPod, iPhone and MacBook. Others are described as having been used in "bad faith," forwarding people to competing products. Bijan could potentially have defended his ownership, but did not submit a response to ICANN and as such is considered to have forfeited.
