Afnic has recently published its 2009 activity report.The report starts with the final word from the former Chairman of Afnic and a word of welcome from the new elected Chairman,Jean-Pierre Dardayrol .
Some significant events mentioned in this report are "Call for tender for the managements of .fr" ,"Back-end Registry of .paris : Afnic/Core selected by the City " and "Clarification in progress for the regulatory framework " .
As mentioned by the former Chairman of Afnic,Jean-Claude Gorichon,Afnic reached the milestone 60 employees and about 1.7 million domain names .In the first year of "opening" .fr ,there were about 35 employees and 250,000 domain names.That could only demonstrate that,in the last five years Afnic has seen a huge growth and evolution .
Moreover,in 2009 Afnic started its work for the introduction of the DNSSEC protocol for .fr .
44,000 domain names were generated each month in 2009 .There were 531,415 creations, , 11,941 restorations , 240,817 deletions , 22,154 transfres to another registrar , 45,620 changes of registrar , 201 domain names which were subject to a judicial or extrajudicial dispute and 564 domain names which were subject to an eligibility check by AFNIC services .
