The meetings of AFNIC’s consultative committees were held on 18th and 19th March, bringing together members from both the user and registrar communities.
During these meetings, the committee members reviewed progress on current projects and discussed the implementation of AFNIC’s commitments in the context of the agreement signed with the State, after it was appointed as the official Registry for .fr Top Level Domain.
In particular, the committees discussed the following matters:
New services
DNSSEC Project:
The .fr and .re country code Top Level Domains will be signed with DNSSEC beginning September 14th, 2010.
DNSSEC is a protocol intended to strengthen the security of DNS replies by guaranteeing the authenticity of the data with the cryptographic signature of DNS registrations. The signature of the .fr and .re zones will mark an important step forward in the overall security of DNS. Further technical details will be released next June.
