AFNIC actively supports NLnet Labs

AFNIC has signed a contract with NLnet Labs, a highly innovative R & D group  recognised for its development of open source DNSSEC- ready software (NSD, Unbound, OpenDNSSEC, etc.). The financial support provided annually by the .fr Registry should help the NLnet Labs foundation achieve its goals.
"We want to express support for the open source and open standards work that NLnet Labs is pursuing. By producing stable and high quality DNSSEC-enabled software they are bringing needed code diversity to the DNS industry and lowering the bar for global DNSSEC deployment. The organization deserves our sustained support",said Mohsen Souissi, AFNIC R&D Manager .
By supporting this project, AFNIC contributes to enhancing interoperability, open standards, and free software on the Internet, thereby fulfilling its role of providing services of general interest. As a matter of fact software developed by NLnetLabs is used and usable by the .fr  registry , its registrars, and the operators of recursive DNS servers (such as ISPs).
NLnet Labs is a research and development group that focuses on those developments in Internet technology where bridges between theory and practical deployment need to be built; areas where engineering and standardization takes place.
It is our goal to play an active and relevant role in these areas through the development of open source software, through participating in development of open standards, and through the dissemination of knowledge.
All our deliverables are targeted to enhance the open, secure, and innovative nature of the Internet for all.
